Learning by Observing

When I was in college, we had a weekly performance class where we would gather in the recital hall every Tuesday night and play for each other. Part of the point of this class was to practice performing and to get better at knowing our performance routines.

However, a lot of the benefits of this class came from watching, LISTENING, and responding to other people’s performances. When we can take our own ego out of the experience, and just be in our bodies and listen, we can hear and understand things on a level that is deeper than what we can do when our own ego is wrapped up in our own playing.

Jill has been taking lessons for 5 months – check out Part 1 of her lesson here and let me know what you think!
